Corti, Giovanni
Not much is currently known about
Giovanni Corti (Johannes Curtius). He studied literature and law and taught at
the Liceo-Ginnasio “G. Galilei” in Pisa. He is the author of a Latin schoolbook
series under the title Civis milesque bonus (Corti 1936–1938). In
addition to De republica lictoria, Corti also authored an Italian
poem celebrating the significance of 28 October (the March on Rome) as a symbol
of the “nova religione” of Mussolini’s Italy (Corti 1939: 16–17). Corti
is not to be confused with the bishop of Mantua of the same name (1797–1868).
More research on Corti’s life and work is needed.
