Parisotti, Oreste
Very little is currently known about
Oreste (or Orestes) Parisotti (1866–1935). He was a Latinist and an ophthalmologist from
Rome who wrote several books on both optometry and church history. Combining
these fields, he published a book in Latin giving his professional opinion on
Francis of Assisi’s loss of eyesight (Paristotti 1918; Trembinski 2020: 29–30).
In 1933, he published the text MUSSOLINI:
DVX. PATRIAE ΣΩΤΗΡ where he praised Mussolini as a ‘saviour’ and peacemaker
(Parisotti 1933). More research on Parisotti’s life and work is needed.
