Noël, B. (Giuseppe Basilone)

Biography

Not much is currently known of B. Jsa Noël, better known as Giuseppe Basilone. He worked as a teacher and wrote educational material for high schools both before and after the ventennio fascista. In addition to textbooks with Latin conversations, he specialised in writing reading-guides for classical works in both Greek and Latin texts, such as the Iliad, Odyssey, and Aeneid, and for Italian classics, such as Dante’s Divina commedia and Ariosto’s Orlando furioso. Much research on Noël’s life and works remains to be done.
